Why Women Shouldn’t Be Scared To Build Muscle

One of the challenges I’ve faced since becoming a Personal Trainer in Devizes is convincing women that building muscle is beneficial to their goal and not a hinderance.

The fear of being “bulky” still looms over lots of women when they think about weight training… but this isn’t the case.

In reality anyone with a weight loss goal actually wants to lose fat, and 1KG of fat looks very different to 1KG of muscle.

So rather than look at the scales, a better gauge is how you look and your dress size. if your clothes feel looser and the scales has stayed the same or risen, trust that you’re on the right path!

So why is building muscle important?

it increases your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which means that you’ll expend more calories per day, even when you’re not exercising Muscle is smaller than fat tissue so will change your body shape and likely reduce your body size. A 70KG female with 15% body fat will look a lot different to a 70KG women with 25% body fat.

How women can build muscle?

Your best bet is to start adding more compound movements in your workouts like Squats, Deadlifts, Bench press, Pull ups etc and pick a workout split that you can stick to.

trust me, re focus your training towards building muscle and watch your fat loss results skyrocket!
